The ongoing joint exercise between the armies of India and the US aims to build relations and interoperability to conduct counter terrorism, counter insurgency, regional security and peace-keeping operations, the Army said today.
The scope of the military exercise Yudh Abhyas 2017 will cover expert academic discussions on strategic issues of mutual concern by experts of both countries.
The two-week exercise began on September 16 in the Washington state of the US.

A combined training is being held between 5th Infantry Battalion of 20 Infantry Regiment of the US Army and soldiers of Gorkha Rifles from the Surya Command of the Indian Army, a statement said.
During the first week, participants were familiarised with each other's organisational structure, weapons, equipment, and tactical drills while commander and staff officers of both sides worked in close coordination to collate intelligence to issue suitable operational orders to the combined field training components, it said.
"Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2017 has met all the desired objectives so far and has helped both the armies to develop the due synergy," the statement added.
