A case has been registered against 15 youths including a local leader of Yuva Sena, the youth wing of Shiv Sena, for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a 24-year-old man, police said today.

The incident took place on the intervening night of November 13 and 14 in which Omkar Gole was abducted and assaulted over an argument, they said.

The victim is currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital here.

According to police, the Thane unit deputy coordinator of Yuva Sena, Nikhil Burzade, had allegedly led the other accused in the attack on the victim.

"Burzade wanted the victim to confess that he had set a vehicle on fire. After an argument, they dumped Gole in a vehicle, beat him with a rod and other weapons and also cut off his ponytail. Around 11.30 pm (on November 13), they took him away in their vehicle and held him captive till 5.30 am (November 14)," police said.

Gole was finally dropped near his house early morning, they said, adding that the accused also threatened Gole not to lodge any police complaint against them but the victim approached the police and an FIR was registered against the accused.

Naupada police has booked the accused under various sections of the IPC, including rioting, kidnapping or abduction, and criminal intimidation among others.

No arrest has been made in this connection so far, police said, adding that further investigation is on.
