Zambian arrested with drugs

A Zambian air traveller was today arrested at the international airport here for allegedly trying to smuggling out drugs worth Rs one crore.

The incident happened last night when a CISF check squad suspected the movement of the Zambian identified as Phiri Eliajah (29) at the terminal 3 of the IGIA.

He was arrested just before he was about to board a flight to Dubai.

During checking, the security officials recovered 10-kg of narcotic drug called Methaqualon from his baggage.

Eliajah had arrived in Indian on July 2 and was on a tourist visa.

The estimated value of the drug is about Rs one crore in the black market.
 

The passenger was handed over to the Customs officials for further legal action, a CISF official said.
