Zee News refutes allegations

allegations that it showed forged annexure of a CAG report on coal block allocation.

Channel Editor Samir Ahluwalia appeared before Crime Branch this evening and refuted the allegations.

Delhi Police had last week registered a case against Zee News for allegedly showing forged annexure of CAG report with regard to coal block allocation, a charge denied as a "figment of imagination, malafide and oppressive".

The Crime Branch registered the case alleging that the CAG report annexure shown by Zee News were forged, sources said.

"No offence of forgery against the accused is made out and admittedly Zee News is not the author of the alleged forged documents and the alleged documents are only the print out of some report," Zee News counsel Vijay Aggartwal said.

 

Zee News also alleged that the case was a "counter offensive to investigation" ordered by the court to be conducted by SHO Tuglak road.

Congress MP Naveen Jindal had alleged that two Zee Editors had tried to extort Rs 100 crore from his company for not running a negative news story against his company. A case was registered in this regard in October and the two Editors were arrested.
