Zinc down by 0.2% on global cues

Speculators reduced their positions amid a weakening trend in Asian trade

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Amid a weak trend in base metals in global markets, zinc prices fell by 0.22% to Rs 137.90 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced their positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in January eased by 30 paise, or 0.22%, to Rs 137.90 per kg in a business turnover of 326 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in February contracts fell by a similar margin to Rs 138.75 per kg in three lots.

Analysts said the weakness in zinc at futures trade was mostly due to a weak trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange amid concern consumption is slowing and that Greece could exit the euro area.
