Zinc prices fell by 0.22 per cent to Rs 157.75 per kg in futures trade today after speculators lightened their positions, tracking a weak global trend and subdued demand at the domestic spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in the current month declined by 35 paise, or 0.22 per cent, to Rs 157.75 per kg, in a business turnover of 377 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in January softened by a similar margin to trade at Rs 158.30 per kg in 67 lots.
Analysts said the weakness in zinc at futures trade was mostly attributed to a weak trend in metal at the London Metal Exchange (LME).
