Zinc down 0.4% on subdued demand, weak global cues

Metal for delivery in September traded lower by 0.35%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Zinc futures fell 0.38% to Rs 142.55 per kg today as speculators reduced positions amidst sluggish domestic demand and weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc prices for delivery in August declined by 55 paise, or 0.38%, to Rs 142.55 per kg in a business turnover of 624 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in September traded lower by 50 paise, or 0.35%, to Rs 142.80 per kg in 74 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in zinc prices in futures trade was due to sluggish domestic demand in the spot market amidst a weak trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange on disappointing manufacturing data from China.
