Zinc drifted lower by 0.52 per cent to Rs 164.15 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels amid easing demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in June fell by 85 paise, or 0.52 per cent to Rs 164.15 per kg in business turnover of 1053 lots.

Also, the metal for delivery in July contracts traded lower by 75 paise, or 0.45 per cent to Rs 164.70 per kg in 35 lots.

Market analysts said besides profit booking by participants, fall in demand from consuming industries in the spot market mainly influenced zinc prices at futures trade.
