Zinc prices dropped by 1.24 per cent to Rs 143.30 per kg in the evening session of futures trading today as speculators trimmed positions in tandem with a weak global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in August fell by Rs 1.80, or 1.24 per cent to Rs 143,30 per kg in business turnover of 498 lots.
Futures Exchange remained closed for morning session trading on account of "Id-ul-Fitr".

Similarly, the metal for delivery in August traded lower by Rs 1.65, or 1.13 per cent to Rs 143.80 per kg in 1,859 lots.
Market analysts attributed the fall in zinc futures to a weak global trend where the metal dropped the most in six weeks amid speculation a rally to the highest level since 2011 lifted prices too far.
Meanwhile, zinc for delivery in three months dropped 1.6 per cent to USD 2,372 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
