The metal for delivery in current month fell 70 paise, or 0.59%, to Rs 117.75 per kg, in a turnover of 1,068 lots.
Traders said the fall in zinc prices in futures trade was mostly due to sluggish demand at the domestic spot markets and offloading of positions by speculators ahead of expiry but a firm trend in the base metals pack at the London Metal Exchange (LME), limited the losses.
Globally, zinc traded 0.9% higher at the LME.
