Zinc futures drop as participants trim position

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Zinc futures fell 0.30 per cent today as participants cut down their bets even as base metals strengthened overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in April was trading lower by 55 paise, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 184.55 per kg, with a business turnover of 61 lots.

The metal for delivery in current month fell 50 paise, or 0.27 per cent, to Rs 184 per kg, in a turnover of 434 lots.

Traders said the fall in zinc prices in futures trade was mostly due to sluggish demand at the domestic spot markets and offloading of positions by speculators ahead of expiry but a firm trend in the base metals overseas, limited the losses.
