Zinc futures fell 0.52 per cent today as participants cut down bets and booked profits at current levels even as the metal strengthened in the global market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in current month was trading lower by Rs 1.10, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 209.40 per kg, with a business turnover of 460 lots.

The metal for delivery in December too fell Re 1, or 0.48 per cent, to Rs 208.80 per kg in a turnover of 35 lots.

Traders said the fall in zinc prices in futures trade was mostly attributed to profit-booking at current levels but a firm trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME), restricted losses.
