Zinc futures edge up 0.23 pc on positive spot cues

Zinc prices inched up by 0.23 per cent to Rs 177.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions taking positive cues from the spot market on pick up in demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in July edged up by 40 paise, or 0.23 per cent, to Rs 177.50 per kg in a business turnover of 884 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in August was enquired higher by a similar margin to Rs 177.65 per kg in 43 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built up by participants due to uptick in demand from consuming industries in the physical markets mainly influenced zinc prices at futures trade.
