Supported by an uptick in demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market, zinc prices edged higher by 45 paise to Rs 168.20 per kg in futures trading today as participants enlarged positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in May month moved up by 45 paise, or 0.27 per cent, to Rs 168.20 per kg in business turnover of 210 lots.

On similar lines, the metal for delivery in June contracts traded higher by 25 paise, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 168.70 per kg in 1 lot.

Analysts said that a firming at the domestic spot market following pick up in demand from consuming industries supported the upside in zinc futures here.
