Zinc futures gain 0.35% as demand picks up

Zinc prices were increased by 0.35 per cent to Rs 186.80 per kg in futures trade today as traders built up fresh positions, driven by pick up in demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in March edged up by 65 paise, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs 186.80 per kg in business turnover of 9,855 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in April contracts traded higher by by a similar margin to Rs 187.25 per kg in 548 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by participants amid uptick in demand from consuming industries in the spot market, mainly led to rise in zinc prices at futures trade.
