Zinc prices went up by 0.45 per cent to Rs 211.25 per kg in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions, taking positive cues from the domestic spot market on improved demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in March edged up by 95 paise, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 211.25 per kg in business turnover of 765 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in April contracts was trading higher by 85 paise, or 0.40 per cent, to Rs 211.60 per kg in 20 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by traders following improved demand from consuming industries in the physical market, drove the upside in zinc prices in futures trade.
