Zinc futures remain weak, down 0.39% on global cues

Zinc prices were down by 0.39 per cent to Rs 153.50 per kg in futures trade today as participants engaged in reducing their positions, tracking a weak trend overseas.

Moreover, subdued demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market kept pressure on zinc prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in September month fell by 0.60, or 0.39 per cent to Rs 153.50 per kg in business turnover of 911 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in August contracts traded lower by 55 paise, or 0.36 per cent to Rs 153.35 per kg in 11,530 lots.

Marketmen said apart from weak trend in base metals pack at the London Metal Exchange (LME) and subdued demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market mainly kept zinc prices lower at futures trade.
 

Globally, zinc for delivery in three months traded 0.3 per cent lower at USD 2,279 on the London Metal Exchange.
