Zinc prices shed 0.37 per cent to Rs 214.75 per kg in futures trade today as speculators engaged in trimming their positions, taking negative cues from spot market on muted demand.

In futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in July fell by 80 paise, or 0.37 per cent to Rs 214.75 per kg in a business turnover of 4 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in June contracts was trading lower by 75 paise, or 0.35 per cent to Rs 214.85 per kg in 421 lots.

Analysts said cutting down of positions by participants on the back of easing demand from consuming industries in the physical market mainly kept zinc prices down at futures trade.
