Zinc futures rose 0.25 per cent to Rs 121.70 per kg as participants built up their positions amid better domestic demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in April was up by 30 paise or 0.25 per cent to Rs 121.70 per kg in 23 lots.

The metal for delivery in March also rose by 25 paise or 0.21 per cent to Rs 121.10 per kg with a business turnover of 1,136 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in zinc futures to pick up in demand at the domestic spot market but a weak trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange limited the gains.
