Zinc rises by 0.5% on global cues

Speculators enlarged positions amid a firm global trend and better domestic demand

Zinc futures edged up by 0.50% to Rs 130.45 per kg today as speculators enlarged positions amid a firm global trend and better domestic demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in March moved up by 65 paise, or 0.50%, to Rs 130.45 per kg, with a business turnover of 833 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in April traded higher by 55 paise, or 0.42%, to Rs 131.10 per kg in a turnover of 33 lots.

Traders said besides improved spot demand, a firming trend in the base metals pack overseas, supported the upside at futures trade here.
