Zinc up 1.4% on spot demand

Metal for delivery in February edged up by 1.29%

Zinc prices rose by 1.49% to Rs 129.40 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions supported by a rise in demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in January rose by Rs 1.90, or 1.49%, to Rs 129.40 per kg in business turnover of 1,691 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in February edged up by Rs 1.65, or 1.29%, to Rs 129.90 per kg in 44 lots.

Market analysts said speculators created fresh positions on improved demand in the spot market amid a firming trend in base metals overseas influenced the zinc prices at futures trade.
