Zinc prices fell by 0.53 per cent to Rs 179.50 5 per kg in futures trade today as speculators cut bets, driven by easing demand in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in July month moved down by 95 paise, or 0.53 per cent, to Rs 179.50 per kg in a business turnover of 445 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in August was trading lower by a similar margin at Rs 178.20 per kg in 95 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by traders owing to slackened demand from consuming industries in the physical market weighed on zinc prices in futures trade.
