Zinc prices edged lower by 0.43 per cent to Rs 173.45 per kg in futures trade today as traders reduced their exposures amid easing demand from consuming industries at spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in December shed 75 paise, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 173.45 per kg in a business turnover of 3,251 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in January eased by 55 paise, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 173.70 per kg in 445 lots.
Analysts said, offloading of positions by participants owing to a fall in demand from consuming industries in the spot market, mainly influenced zinc prices at futures trade.
