Zinc futures soften 0.25%, in line with global trend

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Zinc futures traded a tad lower at Rs 137.50 per kg today after speculators trimmed positions, tracking a weak global trend.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in July declined 35 paise, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 137.50 per kg in a business turnover of 3 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in June contracts eased 20 paise, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 136.95 per kg in 253 lots.

Analysts said the weakness in zinc in futures trade was attributed to a weak trend in the base metal pack overseas after IMF cut its US growth forecast to 2.5 per cent this year, down from an earlier estimate of 3.1 per cent, adding to concerns that global demand for industrial metals will weaken.
