Zinc softens by 0.32%, in line with global trend

The metal for delivery in July contracts softened by 0.11%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Zinc futures traded 0.32% lower at Rs 139.05 per kg today after speculators trimmed positions, tracking a weak global trend.

In futures trading at Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in June contracts declined 45 paise, or 0.32%, to Rs 139.05 per kg. It clocked business turnover of 135 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in July contracts softened by 15 paise, or 0.11%, to Rs 139.90 per kg in 1 lot.

Analysts said the weakness in zinc in futures trade was mostly attributed to a falling trend in copper and other base metals in the global markets as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) trimmed its global growth forecast.
