Zinc futures traded 0.76 per cent higher at Rs 119.95 per kg today after speculators built up bets on the back of a firming trend overseas amid a rising demand in the domestic spot market.

In futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery this month was up by 90 paise, or 0.76 per cent, to Rs 119.95 per kg, in a business turnover of 705 lots.

Also, the metal for delivery in April rose by 90 paise, or 0.75 per cent to trade at Rs 120.60 per kg with a business volume of 15 lots.

According to market analysts, a firming trend in metal in global market and uptick in demand at domestic spot markets from consuming industries supported the upside.
