Supported by a firming trend overseas and pick up in domestic demand, zinc futures prices today edged up by 0.69% as participants built up positions.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in July gained 90 paise, or 0.69%, to Rs 130.55 per kg with a business turnover of 37 lots.

The metal for delivery in June month contracts rose 85 paise, or 0.66%, to Rs 130.55 per kg in a business turnover of 622 lots.

Traders said fresh positions created by speculators on the back of improved demand in the spot market and gains in base metals in global market, helped zinc futures to trade higher.
