Zinc prices edged higher by 0.73 per cent to Rs 185.20 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions on the back of pick-up in demand from consuming industries at spot market amid firm global cues.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in December moved up by Rs 1.35, or 0.73 per cent to Rs 185.20 per kg in a business turnover of 1,551 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in November traded higher by Rs 1.15, or 0.63 per cent, to Rs 185.15 per kg in 13,025 lots.
Marketmen said besides pick-up in demand from consuming industries in the spot market, a firm trend in base metals in overseas markets, mainly helped zinc prices to trade higher at futures trade.
