Zinc futures rose 0.75 per cent to Rs 107.90 per kg as participants built up positions amid a rising trend in base metals overseas and better domestic demand.

The metal for delivery in October also rose 80 paise, or 0.74 per cent, to Rs 109.40 per kg, with a business turnover of 77 lots.

Globally, at the London Metal Exchange, zinc added as much as 1.3 per cent.

Besides a firming trend at the domestic spot market, strength in copper and other base metals at the London Metal Exchange drove the upside in zinc prices.
