Zinc prices were down by 0.49 per cent to Rs 153.10 per kg in futures trading today as traders reduced their exposures amid a weak trend overseas.

Tepid demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market also put pressure on zinc prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in September declined by 75 paise, or 0.49 per cent, to Rs 153.10 per kg in business turnover of 415 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in August shed 70 paise, or 0.46 per cent to Rs 152.85 per kg in 10,030 lots.

Marketmen said weakness in base metals pack at the London Metal Exchange (LME) and muted demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market mainly led to fall in zinc prices at futures trade.

Globally, zinc dropped 0.8 per cent at the London Metal Exchange.
