Zinc, lead edge higher on pick-up in demand

Prices of zinc and lead rose by Rs 2 per kg at the local non-ferrous base metals market today on pick-up in demand from consuming industries amid a firm global trend.

Traders said pick-up in demand from consuming industries and a firm trend in zinc in overseas markets mainly influenced the sentiment.

Meanwhile, zinc for delivery in three months added 1.1 per cent to USD 2,008.50 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported were up by Rs 2 each to Rs 117-123, Rs 134 and Rs 132 per kg, respectively.
 

The following are today's metal rates per kg:

Zinc ingot 117-123, nickel plate (4x4) 1,050-1,051 gun metal scrap 227, bell metal scrap 229, copper mixed scrap 434, chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 134, lead imported 132, aluminium ingots 146, Aluminium sheet cutting 147, aluminium wire scrap 149 and aluminium utensils scrap 146.
