Zinc, lead strengthen on stockists' buying, global cues

Zinc and lead prices rose by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today on emergence of stockists buying following pick up in demand from consuming industries.

Traders said stockists buying following pick up in demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market and firm trend overseas where zinc traded higher as supply from top producer and consumer China has been impacted by environmental inspections and strength in Chinese steel prices, influences sentiment.

Globally, zinc for delivery in three months climbed 1.3 per cent, to USD 3,231.50 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, zinc ingot went up by Rs 2 to Rs 118-124, while lead ingot and lead imported traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 123 and Rs 129 per kg respectively.
 

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 118-124, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 760-770, gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 381, chadri deshi Rs 295.

Lead ingot Rs 123, lead imported Rs 129, aluminium ingots Rs 154, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 150, aluminium wire scrap Rs 150 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 148.
