Zinc, nickel rise on stockists buying, global cues

Prices of zinc and nickel were higher by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous market today on stockists buying to meet industrial demand amid a firm global trend.

Traders said apart from pick up in industrial demand at domestic spot markets, a firm trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) as data showing firming inflation eased demand concerns in China,the world's biggest user, mainly pushed up select base metal prices.

Globally, zinc for delivery in three months gained 0.7 per cent to settle at USD 1,848 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, zinc ingot and nickel plate (4x4) were up by Rs 2 each to Rs 94-100 and Rs 832-837 per kg respectively.

Zinc ingot Rs 94-100, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 832-837, gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 364, chadri deshi Rs 295.

Lead ingot Rs 70, lead imported Rs 76, aluminium ingots Rs 153, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 149, aluminium wire scrap Rs 149 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 147.
