Press Trust of India New Delhi
Zinc prices moved down 0.32% to Rs 142.25 per kg in futures market today as speculators trimmed their positions, in tandem with a weak global trend.

In futures trading at Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in May contracts dropped 45 paise, or 0.32%, to Rs 142.25 per kg in business turnover of 313 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in June traded lower by 35 paise, or 0.24%, to Rs 143 per kg in business turnover of 42 lots.

Marketmen said weakness in copper and other base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) mainly influenced zinc prices in futures trade.

The LME index of six metals tumbled 2.4% on Tuesday to 2,818.8, the biggest fall since January 23. The gauge dropped 6.1% from a 20-week high on May 5.
