Zinc prices eased by 0.26 per cent to Rs 189.60 per kg in futures trading today as speculators reduced their positions, taking weak cues from spot market on muted demand from consuming industries.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in February declined by 50 paise, or 0.26 per cent to Rs 189.60 per kg in business turnover of 29 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in January contracts shed 45 paise, or 0.24 per cent to Rs 189.20 per kg in 455 lots.

Marketmen said weakness in metals at the domestic spot markets owing to slackened demand from consuming industries, mainly influenced zinc prices at futures trade.
