After arrival of a white tiger and seven anacondas, a herd of swamp deer will be brought to the zoological park here, one of the oldest such facilities in the region.
As a part of an animal exchange programme, a team of zoo officials from here are now camping in Lucknow zoo to bring the swamp deer, a rare deer variety popularly known as 'barasingha'.
As many as 15 swamp deer will be brought to the zoo here next week if everything goes as planned, said Zoo Director B Joseph, who is leading the team.

The animals are to be transported by road and expected to reach here next week, he said.
The zoo had already handed over a set of animals and birds including a pair of jungle cat, bonnet macaques and ostriches to the Lucknow zoo as part of the exchange programme.
Recently, seven anacondas, the longest and heaviest snake variety, was brought from Sri Lanka and a white tiger arrived here from Delhi Zoo.
One of the oldest zoological parks in the country, Thiruvananthapuram Zoo, located in the heart of the city, has a large number of animals like tiger, leopard, rhinoceros, Asiatic lions and elephants, besides a separate avian enclosure having Indian Peafowl, White Spoonbill and Cassowary.
