ZP DCEO held for taking bribe through peon

A senior Zilla Parishad official in Dhule district was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 from a clerk, through a subordinate.

Deputy chief executive officer (DCEO) at Dhule ZP, Shekhar Tatyaji Roundal had demanded the bribe from a clerk, posted at the same office, in order to give him promotion, an ACB press release issued here today said.

The clerk then filed a complaint with the ACB in neighbouring Nandurbar and a trap was laid yesterday.

As soon as peon Sanjay Borse accepted the bribe at the ZP office, ACB officials arrested him and the officer, it added.
