India raises rail passenger, freight fares ahead of budget

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India has raised rail passenger and freight fares effective Friday, the railway ministry's spokesman said.

Rail passenger fares have been increased by 14.2 percent and freight rates by 6.5 percent, Anil Kumar Saxena said.
