July rubber imports drop 14 pct as output surges: Board

MUMBAI (Reuters) - India's natural rubber imports in July fell 13.8 percent from a year ago to 35,560 tonnes as domestic output jumped due to favourable weather, the state-run Rubber Board said in a statement on Tuesday.

The country's production rose 11.5 percent in the month to 58,000 tonnes, while consumption nudged up 0.7 percent to 89,000 tonnes, the Board said.

In the first four months of the 2017/18 fiscal year that began April 1, imports fell 12.1 percent from a year ago to 130,543 tonnes, it said.

India imports natural rubber mainly from Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia.
