Nifty gains more than 1 pct as infra stocks surge

Reuters MUMBAI

MUMBAI (Reuters) - The Nifty rose more than 1 percent on Wednesday as lenders and infrastructure-related shares such as IDFC Ltd surged after the central bank exempted long-term bonds raised for the sector from reserve requirements.

IDFC provisionally rose 8.9 percent, while ICICI Bank ended higher 5.1 percent.

The broader Nifty gained 1.3 percent to mark its highest close since July 7.
