Sensex surges over 1 pct, set to snap three-day losing streak

Reuters Market Eye - The benchmark BSE Sensex and the boarder Nifty were trading higher on Thursday, set to snap three consecutive sessions of losses.

The 30-share Sensex was up 1.5 percent while the Nifty rose 1.46 percent at 1:28 p.m. as gains tracked firm U.S. and Asian markets.

Minutes from the U.S. Federal Reserve meeting, released on Wednesday, suggested concerns about the economy, which may delay rate hikes.

Hindalco Industries gained 5.5 percent after global rival Alcoa Inc's earnings beat forecasts.

Bharat Heavy Electricals rose 5.3 percent after it won orders worth 78 billion rupees.
