The Adityapur Auto Cluster (AAC), which is engaged in development of industrial infrastructure, has announced plans to build a hazardous waste management facility based on a public-private-partnership model, according to a report posted on the website of the Federation of Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (FISME).

"AAC is engaged in the development of industrial infrastructure in Adityapur and as part of this endeavour, AAC has decided to undertake development and operation/maintenance of a hazardous waste management facility for Adityapur through Public Private Partnership basis," the cluster management said in a press release.

The project will cater to more than 800 active industrial units in the Adityapur Industrial Area, and a facility of around 18,000 metric tons per annum capacity to treat hazardous solid wastes will be set up in three phases.

"A 20-acre site at village Dugni, Saraikella Kharsawan District will be leased by the AAC to the selected developer-cum-operator for a period of 30 years, excluding the construction of the facility," the press notification added.

In this context, AAC has asked private firms to construct the plant, procure machinery and furniture, and collect wastes from industrial units. AAC came into existence to implement the project under the Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Scheme.

The members of the Adityapur Small Industries Association formed a special purpose vehicle named Adityapur Auto Infrastructure Company Limited, and later its name changed to Adityapur Auto Cluster.

The purpose of AAC is to develop industrial infrastructure facilities in the Adityapur Industrial Area with the help of financial assistance as a non-refundable grant from Central and state governments with nominal investments by local industrial units.
