Around five public sector undertakings (PSUs), five banks and 120 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) would participate at the MSME expo 2011, the national vendor development programme-cum-industrial exhibition, being held here from January 22.

“The event is a B2B platform for the MSME sector to promote their products. The small and medium units will exhibit their production capability and services they offer, whereas the participating PSUs will exhibit their requirements,” B Sarat Kumar, assistant director (glass and ceramics), MSME-DI, said.

The two-day event, being organised by the MSME Development Institute (MSME-DI), would facilitate bar coding, cluster development, energy efficiency techniques and new manufacturing components. Around 150 stalls would be put up.

“The main objective is to enhance competitiveness and capability of the MSME sector. The exhibition generated business worth Rs 13 crore last year at Visakhapatnam and this year, the expectation is higher,” he said.
