In keeping with our promise to publish success stories from our esteemed readers, we hereby present the case of P.P.Jewellers, a leading exporter of gold jewellery.

It has been conferred with two Niryat Shree Awards for its outstanding export performance at a function organised in Delhi recently. Kamal Nath, Union Minister of Commerce & Industries, conferred the award to promoters Veena Gupta and Pawan Gupta.

P.P.Jewellers was started by Kamal Gupta, chairman and founder, and Pawan Gupta, director, in 1980. The organisation started with it's retail showroom in Sadar Bazar, Delhi, and diversified later into wholesale and export section of the trade. The Company has been recognised 17 times for outstanding export performance.

The company credits its success to the quality of its products. In fact, in the early years the company eschewed all expenses on advertising and the brand was established purely on the strength of word-of-mouth buzz. It's only in recent years that the company has featured among the top advertisers as per AdEx India, a division of TAM Media Research.

The Company sells 100 per cent hallmarked 22 Carat jewellery at their showrooms.

In time, the company has branched out in many directions. Its beenconstantly in the news for various reasons. For instance, they have been the recipient of 'Certification of Appreciation' awarded by American Express for year 2003; Asian Academy of Film & Television Academy Award to Kamal Gupta in 2002; Award by Sales Tax Department in 2003, Export House Status by Government of India, Trading House Status by Government of India. They have gone ahead and installed a jewellery testing machine for customers to check purity at their showroom.

Future plans include getting into the diamond jewellery market abroad, the group has also started looking at movie production with their foray into Bollywood with the film Badhai ho Badhai. And it has today set up offices all over the country and is now exploring the option of franchising its brand, with the first coming up in Karnal.
