12.59% Paper Draws Rs 115cr Trades

The wholesale debt market at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) clocked turnover worth Rs 380.50 crore yesterday. Of this, the corporate debentures accounted trades worth Rs 693.76 lakh.

There was lot of fluctuation in the market for the second consecutive day. For instance, the 12.59 per cent paper touched a low of Rs 106.24 and closed at Rs 106.28 before touching a high of Rs 106.60. The foreign banks were selling securities while the public sector banks were buying selectively, said a dealer. The 12.59 per cent government loan maturing in 2004 was traded actively, contributing 30 per cent of the volume, amounting to trades worth Rs 115 crore. There were 22 trades recorded for the paper and the weighted yield stood at 11.22 per cent. The 12.14 per cent gilt maturing in 2000, too, was in demand and accounted to trades worth Rs 40 crore at a weighted yield of 10.6 per cent. The paper touched a high of Rs 103.70 and a low of Rs 103.35 before closing at Rs 103.42 for the day.

 

The 11.19 per cent government loan maturing in 2005 was traded for Rs 21 crore at a weighted yield of 11.16 per cent.

In the government securities segment, 72 trades were reporte, while the corporate debenture section witnessed 402 trades.
