364-Day Paper Traded For Rs 165 Crore

The wholesale debt market on the National Stock Exchange saw a turnover of Rs 382 crore yesterday.

The treasury bills section witnessed action in the bills maturing in April 98, attracting attention of a public sector bank.

364- day treasury bills were traded for an amount of Rs 165 crore with bills maturing in April 98 being dealt for Rs 90 crore at 8.9 per cent yield.

Market interest was in the medium dated securities maturing between 1999 and 2002.

Among the securities which saw active trading was the 12.14 per cent government loan maturing in 2000 for 75 crore at 11.91 per cent yield, the 11.64 per cent government loan maturing in 2000 for 35 crore at 11.77 per cent yield .

 

"The security prices saw a reaction initially on account of higher calls but received support later during the day to end at previous days levels", said a money market dealer with a private sector bank.

Corporate debentures segment saw deals worth Rs 26.66 crore taking place with the 15.5 per cent issue of Reliance Capital being traded for Rs 25.93 crore at 15.76 per cent yield which the market felt was off-loading by a foreign bank.

Overnight money opened at 6.25 per cent levels and closed at 6 per cent yesterday with expectations of opening around 7.5 per cent today.
