6 Cos Short-Listed For Delhi Mrts Project

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Ltd,which is implementing the Delhi Mass Rapid Transport System project has shortisted six firms/ groups from whom bids will be invited for first phase of the Rs 5200 crore project.

The six firms are Bechtel and ICF Kaiser of the US, DE Consult, Hamburg Consult, ETC Transport Consultant of Germany, a consortium consisting of Pacific Consultants International, Japanese Railways Technical Services, Tonichi Enggg Consultants of Japan, Japan and Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) of India, Parsons Brinkerhoff International of the UK and Systra of France.

The OECF Japan which is has forwarding a soft loan for the project has concurred with the shortlist. The DMRC will invite bids from these firms which will have 80 days to submit the tenders to DMRC.

 

E Sreedharan CMD of the Konkan Railway Corp is being appointed as MD of the DMRC and will join the company within this month.

In the first phase the project will cover a total distance of 55.3 km as against its earlier proposal of covering 67.5 km.

Out of this there will be a 11 km underground north south stretch connceting Central Secretariat and the Delhi University while 44.3 km will be overground.
