WIMBLEDON
(Men's and Women's Finals)

Wimbledon Finals weekend is a special occasion for tennis fans. The Ladies Singles Final to be played later this evening between Serena Williams and Angelique Kerber will be one such occasion. The debate on who the greatest female tennis player of all time may be never-ending, but for the moment let us all enjoy Williams' unprecedented domination of the game which has taken place for the best part of the last decade and a half. A six-time champion at the All-England club, she currently possesses 21 Grand Slam singles titles.

A victory today over Kerber would tie her with Steffi Graf's open era record of 22, and leave her two short of Margaret Court's all-time record of 24. Kerber, the 28-year-old German, will not represent easy opposition though. Earlier this year she had beaten Williams in a thrilling three-set match in the Australian Open final to clinch her first Grand Slam title.

The men's final is yet to be decided, although it is all set to be a clash between Roger Federer and Andy Murray. Federer who faces Milos Raonic has not lost any of his previous 10 semifinal clashes at Wimbledon. This year could represent his best opportunity to win a Slam for the first time since his 2012 Wimbledon triumph.

  EURO 2016 FINAL
France vs Portugal

A nation broken eight months ago, due to a devastating terror attack in the nation's capital Paris, stands on the verge of redemption. France take on Portugal in the early hours of Monday morning (for viewers in India) in what promises to be an enthralling game. Guided by a vociferous home support which was in full evidence during their semifinal victory over Germany, France will start as favourites. The last two occasions France hosted a major football competition, the Euro 1984 and the 1998 World Cup, they won on each occasion- so the size of the task in front of Portugal is fairly understandable.

France's charge will be led by 25 year-old striker Antoine Griezmann who is the Euros' leading scorer with six goals (the next best has only three). A victory for France in the final will make them the Euros' most successful team alongside Germany with three titles.

Portugal are one of football's powerhouses, but despite the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the world's best players, it won't be incorrect to state they start the final as underdogs. This will be their second appearance in a major final, having reached the 2004 Euro final as hosts where they were shocked by Greece. Portugal does deserve a major title, but given France's form and home support, doing it at the Stade De France seems a tough ask.

FORMULA 1
British Grand Prix

A massive crowd of 140,000 people is expected at Silverstone for the 10th race of the 2016 season. All eyes as expected will be on the Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, have had far from the most cordial of relationships. This came to a head during the Austrian Grand Prix, when following a last lap collision, Rosberg, the race leader, finished fourth and Hamilton won the race. What would have been a comfortable 31-point lead for Rosberg was brought down to just 11. Rosberg has been the season's dominant driver, winning the first four races. He will though have to contend with the huge home support that is going to come the way of Hamilton, a three-time winner on this circuit. Rosberg will also be motivated by never having won a world title, whereas Hamilton is a three-time World Champion and twice with Mercedes as a teammate of Rosberg. It's an important race to determine the course of the season.
