Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) have placed orders worth Rs 45 crore on ABB for automation of their terminals at Rajamundry in Andhra Pradesh and Manmad in Maharashtra.

These terminals are part of HPCL's Vizag-Vijayawada pipeline and BPCL's Mumbai-Manmad pipeline projects.

The terminal automation system is a standard and well-proven application product based on ABB advent open control system. The functions include controlling access to the terminal, tank gauging, custody transfer, product routing, blending and loading of trucks and wagons. There is also a full set of management functions such as ordering or invoicing, shipping and consolidation.

TAS eliminates the problems of underfilling or overfilling of products in trucks and wagons besides increasing throughput from the distribution terminals.
