Acc Sells Slag Granulation Plant To Tisco

ACC has sold its Chaibasa slag granulation plant to Tisco. The plant close to Jamshedpur has a capacity of around 0.8 million tonnes per annum. Outgoing chairman Nani Palkhivala said that all employees would be absorbed by Tisco.
Although, S Ganguly, executive vice-chairman, refused to disclose the amount received for the sale in August, he said, the sale is not detrimental to ACCs interests. We will remain the largest producers of portland slag.
Ganguly said that Tisco had leased out the granulation plant premises to ACC. Tisco will now use the plant for granulation of slag produced from its Jojobera plant.
ACCs total slag production from its plants at Gagal, Chaibasa, Sindri and the plant owned by Damodhar Cement & Slag Ltd currently stands at 4 MT. ACC will now source slag from Bokaro and Durgapur, Ganguly added.
